For the Groom: Ghostbuster Wedding Cake

And now, the results of Wednesday's Wedding Survey:
How old were you when you first met your fiance/husband?
15 or under: 7
16-20: 12
21-25: 13
26-30: 3
30 or older: 0

So 21-25 is the most common age but only by 1 person. All in all, 16-25 is the most common...buuutt then again, that's pretty much the demographic of my readers, so this poll may be a bit skewed. Thank you so much to all who participated, and be sure to check back next Wednesday for our next poll!

I'm getting to the point where we will have to pick our wedding cake soon, both flavor and how it looks. I'm very excited for our cake tasting and I'm hoping we can schedule it soon! Anyway, during my cake search, I found this Ghostbuster wedding cake below.  Like the Transformers Ice Sculpture, if I show this to Chris, he's going to fall in love with this cake. Haha, I personally wouldn't choose this for our wedding, I think this would make a good groom's cake, if we were doing that, but we're not.

What do you think, would you do a cake like this for your wedding? Are you doing a Groom's cake?

Haha!Great Cake.Well, if men are from mars and women are form venus then think how that would translate into a cake.Women would want flowers and hearts and men would want a cake that explodes, starts on fire, and then ends with a naked woman emerging from the smoldering ashes!Btw, our cake was nothing like that. Lol!

Oh that's a fun cake! But we're actually doing a groom's pie. Matt's thing is apple pie-- he LOVES it! I'm tossing back and forth the idea of serving milk with it, too...

I have no idea what we're doing for our main cake, but I would absolutely love to do a Guinness glass shaped groom's cake, with possible Guinness flavoring(?). My FI would loveeee that!

I love that cake! I thought about getting a groom's cake, but decided against it becasue of the extra cost and because we already had enough details to focus on. Have a great weekend!

That cake is amazing!! No grooms cake so far, but if there's room in the budget later I would love to surprise him with one!

Obviously I'm not a bride-to-be, so I don't really count, LOL...BUT, my friends Emily and Michael who got married in 2008 had a grooms cake that was just huge STRAIGHT up chocolate. But when you got close, they had actually designed (Part in buttercream and part in little fondit (sp?) decals), details of all his favorite things, ie: little Standford symbols (his college), little Dallas Cowboys stars, little baseball gloves and balls (his college sport) and it was really cute but subtle! And the cake was still tasty...so WIN!!!

I kind of love the idea of a groom's cake. My fiance has been so supportive of my DIY ideas and OCD details that I am always looking for little ways to put more BOY into our reception. A lot of brides make their own grooms' cakes to save money, but I may just put the extra cash aside and pay the professionals! Delegating responsibility is my new favorite hobby.
The real trouble will arise when I'll have to decide what hobby, interest, or memory the cake will highlight. Decisions, decisions...

You've read my feelings on a groom's cake... :) I love them. I really think it gives the groom his own special touch on something that, let's face it, is primarily the brides thinking up!

I love the idea of a groom's pie, how clever!

I actually am warming up to the idea of a groom's cake, but I would much rather have it at our rehearsal dinner. We're going to have so many desserts already the night of our wedding, and we'll need some sort of cake or dessert for our rehearsal anyway. I think I'll def. look into something for him for the rehearsal dinner! Thanks for all your great thoughts!

@ Mallory YOU COUNT! You can weigh in wheneeever you want!

@Kerry- How about you have a cake made for Mike of his favorite couple's faces?? I'll send you a picture of me and Chris 2nite! ;)

Haha I'm afraid to show this picture to Mark, he's going to want this cake for sure. I'm probably going to do a groom's cake for him, I'd love to make it myself and have my dad draw on it. It will probably have to incorporate Legos and Star Wars, but Transformers and Ghostbusters are also strong possibilities ;)

Haha Molly...how alike our boys are. If I do the groom's cake for the rehearsal dinner, it will DEF. have to be transformers!!

Interesting poll results!

My hubby wanted to do a Lego groom's cake, but I nixxed it because of budget, and we were running out of time! In retrospect, it might have been fun to do!
