Friday Find: Which is Worse?

Before I get to today's Friday Find, I am ready to share with you the most unfortunate thing to come out of our wedding. I had a whole long thing typed up about this unfortunate situation, but I'm really going to try and keep this as brief as possible:

Our photographer has lost about 45 minutes worth of photos that were taken of me and my bridesmaids at my house before the ceremony. I have about 9 different set-up shots that we distinctly remember taking that are just missing. These include me with my bridesmaids in all our matching zip up terry-cloth hoodies, and matching flip-flops that I worked so hard to make, as well as the pictures of my mom and sister zipping me up in my dress to name a few. They have no idea where they are, they are simply...gone. Obviously - this is a bride's worst nightmare. These are moments I can never get back. No one took pictures of these on the side because obviously, no one felt it was necessary.
Was the camera lens left on? via

I put off saying anything about it mostly because I refused to believe it was true. I kept hanging onto that hope that they would find them, or a memory card with all the photos would magically appear...but this week it has pretty much sunk in for me that they are just gone.

Obviously, the photography studio is very upset and doing everything they can to uncover them. Of course, they said this has never happened before (why me, right?), and they promise to make it up to us. I understand we're all human and this was a freak accident. We all make mistakes, believe me I know this, but deep down...I am so angry and upset at them. I don't even care to go there and work with them on the albums at this point. There's nothing I can do about it...what's done is done, and I'll just have to go on the memory of all those fun posed shots with my bridesmaids and the memory of my mom and sister zipping me up in my dress.

Friday Find: Sigh...I guess I should be happy that this didn't happen at my wedding though, right? Which is worse? having 45 minutes of wedding pictures missing, or having this happen to you on your wedding day?:

Good thing we nixed the Zip-line entrance!

This is bad, but I think I win...

Aww Laura I'm so sad they lost those pictures! I know that must be really hard to deal with :(

But at least your husband didn't crash into you... and you weren't showing off your wedding-day undies to all your guests... and your guest didn't say "I'm youtubing that s***!"
Thanks for sharing :)

I think it's no contest. You win. Loosing your photos is worse than having your husband crash into you. And Jessica you're making an assumption about not showing off the bridal undies1 LOL! ;)

Mom is hilarious! At least the studio is trying to make amends but it totally sucks and I'd have a hard time talking to them without yelling and/or crying.

That is just awful! I had a weird thing happen with my wedding pictures, but it had a very happy ending. At the end of the day, you're still married to Chris, right?

That's horrible! I am so sorry. Those are BAD pictures to be missing. I will cross my fingers that devine intervention happens and they somehow find them!

That really sucks, I'm sorry to hear about the missing photos. I would be pissed too! Are they going to reimburse you some of your money or give you a free album or something at least?

That is simply unacceptable, and I'm so sorry this happened to you, Laura. I would be completely furious, and I don't blame you for feeling that way. I wonder if they were using multiple memory cards and lost one, or how it happened. Did they have two shooters taking pictures or just one? These types of stories make me so angry, since pro photographers should be well-trained at capturing everything and handling the files.

i am SO SO sorry laura. that is a terrible thing to happen, especially since you worked so hard to get the girls their hoodies and flip flops, and then had pictures of you and your mom. i hope somehow they can find them, but if not, i really really hope they can do something to at least TRY to make it right. and your mom is right...i wonder if that girl is wearing underwear?!

I'm so sorry to hear that Laura. I think anyone would be just as upset as you are. I have a friend who got married just a little over a year ago and they have been trying for months to get the prints that they ordered from their photographer and the photographer refuses to contact them. So I am glad to hear that they are at least trying to make it right. They DO owe you big! I hope something miraculous happens and they find them!!

That's slightly unforgiveable... if it helps (it helped me) go to Youtube and search for wedding disasters...

We had a lot of shots the photographer just didn't get like anyone going down the aisle to go stand up. But the mom zip-up pics... NO. Not Okay. Sorry, love.

I'm SO sorry to hear that! You assume when you hire a quality photographer that you're going to have a great experience, and it's so disappointing when that doesn't happen!

We had something similar happen - I decided to hire a friend (who's a professional photographer) to shoot the majority of our reception instead of paying our other photographer to stay the whole evening, and her computer ended up crashing and she lost the majority of our pictures. She was eventually (like 9 months after our wedding) able to recover some of them, but they weren't edited/high quality. It was such a mess and SO disappointing - All of my DIY projects that I poured SO much time into, and hardly any of them were in a decent picture. I'm so sorry you're dealing with the same thing.

I am so sorry! Losing your photos is definitely worse. I really do hope the photographers make it up to you because that is unforgiveable. In the grand scheme of things though at least you do have the photos of you and your new husband!

OH man!! I am so sorry!!! They should definitely comp you somehow for those lost pictures! I say a free trash the dress session... or something! Honestly... I've been pretty stressed over getting our pics back too. I just don't think our photog took that many really... Ugh! Photo stress is no fun!

That is hilarious though... What you get for zooming in on a zipline! bahaha

I'm so sorry to hear this Laura! One of the best pieces of advice I got pre-wedding was when my matron of honor told me to take plenty of "mental snapshots" - because unless the photographer has ESP and can read minds, there will still be photos you wish you had. Luckily, I only have a few moments during our day that I wish were documented on paper instead of just in my mind. I can only imagine how angry you must feel to be missing an entire chunk of time!! I'll keep my fingers crossed that they miraculously turn up!

That stinks really bad... and that is one of my biggest fears for my own wedding. I have never like wedding photographers (I think is was because they were always in my way when I worked at the banquet hall), but I hope they can do something that makes losing the pictures a little easier. (Cash back is always nice!)

Oh my gosh I am SO sorry to hear about this.. I can't even imagine. It sounds like you are handling it to the best of your capabilities, but it's obviously ok to be pissed. I always love those getting ready pics :( Ughh I really hope a miracle happens and they find them.. big hugs <3
