I get handed out brochures as I'm leaving the subway:
Isn't it great to have a constant reminder that the world is ending on my wedding day? It's just wonderful to be greeted with these signs each morning and night as I commute to and from work. I first discovered this doomsday date last year when I googled "May 21, 2011" and a whole slew of terrible results came up:
Thankfully, I don't really believe the end of the world is coming. So all I can do when faced with these little reminders is giggle, shake my head, and walk on. If nothing else...these brochures might make a great addition to our out of town bags!
...Just kidding.
Have you googled your wedding date?

It's not the end of the world just judgement day.You will still have 6 months to live as you please. Well, at least you're not taking it personally or feeling like it's a commentary on your marriage. JKJK!!!! You keep your perspcetive and a sense of humor about it. Actually, if I remember correctly it's "the world as you know it." Well, your life as you know it as a single woman will end. And your life as a married woman will begin. So I say at the reception we should all just PARTAY!!!
Doesn't that have something to do with the Myan calendar restarting? It's not really over, just that the calendar restarts? Right? I just read an article from Nasa on this - about how it's fooey. No worries!!
There are billboards all over Denver advertising the end on May 21 as well. My wedding date is the anniversary of the US dropping the atomic bomb on Japan if it makes you feel any better. ;)
I actually think it would be kind of hilarious to put these brochures in your OOTs! Probably not a lot of people share that sense of humor though lol
LOL! Hillarious! I take it as a sign that you will have an especially beautiful wedding day! :)
maybe they mean the world as you know it as single people? ;)
i try not to read in to those things or any predictions unless its a hurricane warning. now that i'm here in SF people predict "the big earthquake" will be here any day. how fun is it waiting in fear? no thanks :)
oh my! I am going to go google my date right now! lol!
HAHAHA This is hilarious! I didn't even realize the "end of the world" date was on a Saturday!
I've seen this too! Too weird... I believe your wedding day will go off without a hitch! Including the world NOT ending! ;) I went and googled June 18, 2011 after seeing this... Safe to say nothing exciting planned for that day. EXCEPT my wedding of course. haha
Oh my goodness. I thought that was supposed to be December 12 (21?) 2012..?? Oh well. We have multiple judgement days. Personally, I'm hoping for a zombie apocolypse of some sort ;)
that's too crazy. besides...the Bible says no one will ever know when Christ is coming ;) so don't worry...i don't believe it'll happen! all in all though, that'll definitely make a good story!
One of our guests mentioned this to my mom a few weeks ago. I think it's funny and a bunch of baloney, but if it were true at least we'll be with our friends and family the day the world ends!!
Oh my goodness too funny! People are little loose in the head sometimes! Your day will be special... and just the beginning! :)
I agree with Tracy...it would be hilarious to somehow incorporate this into your wedding--if you guests have a sense of humor like you do;)
HAHA! When we walked the parade on St. Paddy's Day we saw these ALL over the place!! Crazies were lining the parade route with huge signs & some of them say it's "guaranteed" LOL - If it makes you feel any better, my hubs googled it too when we got back & the guy who came up with this theory also thought Judgment Day was coming in 1994 & he was wrong then too.
I vote yes to some how incorporating it in your wedding! I think guests would get a kick out of it in their out of town bags or maybe you could have an end of the world after party?!
I thought the end of the world was going to be in December 2012 when the Mayan calendar... I'm sure everyone is just making a mistake!!!
I just saw a story about this online today about a sign like this that is stating the exact same thing in Grand Junction, CO. Crazy! I don't believe this, and I hope that you have an amazing wedding that day!
