Honeymoon Part 6: Venice

Finally! This is the last Honeymoon recap and then I can hopefully get to the meat and potatoes of the wedding! We arrived in Venice after pretty much a full day of traveling. We left Cinque Terre at 7am that morning, but when we arrived in Florence to catch a train to Venice, all the train tickets to Venice were sold out for the next 3 hours! So we had to wait for quite some time in Florence before catching the next train. Never-mind though, we got fresh strawberries and cream for lunch!!

Finally we arrived in Venice around 4:30! Chris taking BOTH our bags down the stairs...what a guy :)
Our hotel room in Venice was by far our favorite hotel. We stayed at the San Marco Palace Suites. We had a full bedroom, living room, kitchen area and balcony and all for less than some of the other hotels we stayed in!
We were greeted in our room with complimentary champagne and chips, which Chris had set up with the hotel before we arrived!
We were starrrrrving but it was that awkward time where it was too late for lunch and too early for dinner, so we got some prosecco and small sandwiches to hold us over for the time being.
On our Balcony before heading out for the night.
The next day we took a boat ride to the Murano Glass factory. I had heard before that the murano glass factory was a tourist trap...but for some reason, we had decided to go anyway. Really, the best thing about this trip was the free boat ride. Other than that, it was just pressure from a salesman to buy overpriced glass.
We got to watch them make one glass horse piece, which was cool. That was about it...
I bought my sister a necklace and myself a cute pair of earrings black and gold glass earrings, then we left to doing some site-seeing in St. Mark's Square. On top of St. Mark's Basilica in St. Mark's Square
We also went on a Gondola Ride!!! WAY overpriced but we were in Venice on our HONEYMOON: you just have to do a gondola ride.
Going into the canals
Our time in Venice was short, and we were really pooped by the time we got there. We mostly walked around, got a feel for the place and winded down from an amazing two weeks in Italy: Rome, Florence, Cinque Terre, and Venice...what an amazing 2 weeks exploring Italy! Certainly the trip of a lifetime, and a trip we'll never forget!
