Hello! I am woefully unprepared for this week!! Between this little girl (who has a severe upper respiratory infection!!).....
I don't usually keep her hood on..this was for dramatic effect!
...my boss being back in town for the week, (boooo), and a visit to the 9/11 memorial last night after work (I had to order these tickets back in September and this was the earliest I could get them!)
Needless to say, I am swamped with things! However, I did manage to meet Ariane from Storymix Media for coffee at the ING Cafe yesterday!
Ariane was just as personable and sweet in person as she was in her
emails. And while I already love everything about Storymix Media, it was great to get to know Ariane while learning even more about this
great company and all the exciting things that are in store for them! Mike and Ariane's passion for their
product and clients is evident and it's people like them that I am so
happy to have met throughout my wedding planning process. I have more
to post about Storymix Media eventually, but for now be sure to check out their website!
"[My Flip Wedidng] supplies flip cams for 3 day usage by your friends, family, guests, and even you to shoot footage the whole weekend. After the wedding, you simply send the cameras back, they upload the footage to an online account, and you get to personalize what's included by picking the scenes and adding captions and titles!! Then they professionally edit it into an amazing 15-20 minute highlight movie on DVD based on one of 10 themes you choose."
I finally finished going through all the footage our bridal party captured on our flip-cam last week, and was able to start the process of picking which scenes we want to include in our custom-made video! Mike, from StoryMix Media, sent me this teaser to tide me over for the time being, and I can't wait to see more!
Here, you'll get to see Chris' brother forcing me to be a diva by shouting "This is my day!" before actually getting annoyed that I can't get the flipcam from him (sigh, like a true brother already), Chris talking about castration (no...really), a rousing rendition of Katy Perry's "Alien" that I sing to nobody in particular at our after-party...until I realize that nobody is listening, and us dancing to my all-time favorite wedding song "SHOUT"! It's pretty funny, and I can't wait to see the full thing once I finish going through all our video. Enjoy!
Welcome to the first edition of my "Friday Find". I found a lot of really neat wedding ideas out there this week...and this one is no exception. I thought I had heard it all when it came to incorporating video into your wedding. I've heard of wedding videos, and wedding save the dates...but did you ever think to send a video RSVP to a wedding you were invited to?! Blogger friend Mel at The Oceanside Bride received a video rsvp from her photographers/videographers. Judging by their creativity here, I'm guessing Mel's wedding video and photos are going to be absolutely unbelievable! She must have been SO excited to see this in her inbox!
I recently came across an awesome website and service called My Flip Wedding from Storymix Media. Everyone constantly tells me our day will fly by before I know it and will be done in the blink of an eye, and this makes me sad to think about. I've always been a "documenter." In High School, I was always the one with the camera, and video camera. If anyone ever forgot to bring their camera somewhere they thought "Oh that's ok, Laura will have hers". This has been even more true as I attend all my friend's weddings. I have documented and video recorded everyone's wedding to the best of my non-professional ability. I have all my friend's entrances, cake-cuttings, first dances, etc., to have on hand for slideshows, scrapbooks, and general memories. But this leads me to one question: Will anyone do that for me at my wedding? I realize that not everyone is as crazy about documenting as I am, so I can't honestly expect others to be as crazy as me about capturing every moment.
When we picked our photographer, we added on a basic videography package with our booking. But unfortunately, I have to say this was a decision based purely on getting a fair price for what it was, not about quality of product. I got the sense that Déjà Vu does not take their videography very seriously, and was not impressed by their video samples. I told myself that any documentation...was good documentation, sucked it up, and went on my way.
But then I heard about My Flip Wedding from Storymix Media. Storymix has a unique service designed for wedding couples. They supply Flip cams for 3 day usage by your friends, family, guests, and even you to shoot footage the whole weekend. After the wedding, you simply send the cameras back, they upload the footage to an online account, and you get to personalize what's included by picking the scenes and adding captions and titles!! Then they professionally edit it into an amazing 15-20 minute highlight movie on DVD based on one of 10 themes you choose. For a control freak like me, who also likes to have creative input in the final product, this was a dream come true! This would finally allow me to have some video footage first-hand from our guests and friends!
Besides the fact that we can get a great video keepsake to enjoy for the rest of our lives, the prices are really fabulous. Packages start at only $99.99. With My Flip Wedding there's no reason any couple can't capture their big day on video. Plus, with the cameras in the hands of your friends and family, you know you'll be saving the fun, personal, and intimate moments that you really want to see, especially since you won't be able to experience them all first hand.
And do you know just how lucky I am?! Storymix Media provided us with a coupon to use their product for our wedding!! After we get back from the honeymoon, I'll do another review to let you know how everything went but I can't wait to share my video with you all when it's done! For now, check out a sample from another wedding that used My Flip Wedding:
(Quick explanation on the "ya'll": I've been watching Friday Night Lights, which is officially the best show EVER, and have decided I want to be exactly like Tammy Taylor when I "grow up". I just love everything about her, especially the way she says "ya'll" so chipper and cheerful all the time. So, as part of my training/transformation I'm saying it now, too!)
Did you hear about this? Videographer Rainer Flor and wedding photographer Brian Adams (not to be confused with Bryan Adams) shot an ENTIRE Wedding through the use of a few iphones...and wow...it looks good! While they used a few added elements, (lighting assistants, change of lenses, etc.) they said the major advantage was that they were very unobtrusive since the cameras are so much smaller than the professional ones they usually use.
Check out their Iphoneshooters.com website where they post their personal challenge with this project, followed by the outcome (video below). My guess is this may be the first wedding to be done this way....but definitely won't be the last. Look for more iPhone weddings in the future!
