Wishing Tree Tag DIY Trays

Many of you may remember from my Wishing Tree post, that I intended to make some display trays with our wishing tree tags. Well I am happy to report that the project is done and it came out even better than I could have imagined!

I bought wooden trays at Michaels.
Before:

Then I de decoupaged some of the highlights wishing tags onto it. I still intend to add some tags to the outside perimeter, but for now this is how it came out! I didn't take too many good pictures, I did this quickly!
After:

Wedding Recap: The Wishing Tree

Thanks to everyone who left me comments to be added or changed on the Blogging Brides page. I'm working on these changes today, so be sure to keep checking out my Blogging Brides page to keep up with everyone!

Wishing Tree: Another element that our guests were greeted with before entering the reception was our Wishing Tree! I talked about our wishing tree in this post while we were on our honeymoon...but here it is in action!

Our venue provided these branches in the vase for hanging my wishing tags on, which was a HUGE help to us!
On the left hand side was a framed engagement picture, next to a Gold "D" for our last name. I bought this at Michaels and my dad spray-painted it gold. Then he made a metal stand attached to the back so it could stand upright next to the picture.

On the other side was our Wishing Tags, and the Wishing Tree Poem I had framed:

WISHING TREE
As we begin our new journey
a brand new Mr. and Mrs.
We could surely use
your advise and wishes.

Share with us your wisdom
about marriage, love & life,
The secret to being a good husband
or top-notch first-rate wife.

Jot down a memory
a reminder of our day.
A doodle or picture will do
if you don't know what to say.

Please don't forget, it would be such a shame
Don't hang your wish on our tree,
without signing your name.

What ever you pen, we're sure to treasure
long after this day has passed,
your words will bring us pleasure.

Once the tree became more filled, it looked so nice with the crystals and tags hanging on it:
"The longer you've been married, the more times she's been right"
Here are some of my favorite tags from our wishing tree:

Yep! Our doorman wrote this one for us!!

A fellow blogging bride, Megan at Butterfly Dreams n' Things, who is getting married in January emailed me one day asking what I planned to do with the tags after the wedding. Since then, I've been asked the same thing by many other people. I also sent Megan some of my extra tags for her to use in her wedding since I had so many leftover! Read about that here!

My thought right now is to buy a plain wooden tray from Michaels, paint it a forest green, and modge-podge our tags to the inside of it. This will be a good way to preserve our wedding wishes and use them for something functional!

That's my goal right now, I just have to go get the supplies and then actually do it. You could modge-podge these onto anything: wooden stools, plaques, mirrors, picture frames, etc. etc. Once I try it, I'll definitely let you know how the finished product turns out!

Honeymoon Series: The Wishing Tree

This is a crappy picture, but this is our wishing tree. Our venue provided this for us free of charge:

I bought business cards with little hearts on them at staples. I printed "Advice and Wishes for the Mr. and Mrs." Using a font that I downloaded (I'll have to let you know the name of it later!) but I got it on dafonts.com

Then I punched holes in each of them, and cut green and white twine to put in the holes:

Then I arranged them in a basket:

Next to the basket, I put this sign:

The poem reads:

WISHING TREE

your advise and wishes.
